This Custom Banquette Seating project was designed to blend seamlessly into the architecture of the home while providing both comfort and highly functional storage. Built specifically for this light-filled breakfast nook, the banquette creates an inviting place to gather while maximizing every inch of available space.

The bench features flip-up white oak seat tops that reveal concealed storage below—ideal for housing seasonal linens, serving pieces, or everyday essentials. Concealed hinges were carefully selected and installed to maintain clean lines and a furniture-grade appearance, allowing the tops to lift smoothly without disrupting the overall design.

A defining detail of this custom banquette seating is the way the trim work integrates with the existing room. The vertical bench stiles align precisely with the surrounding wall paneling, creating a cohesive, built-in look that feels original to the home rather than added on. This attention to proportion and alignment ensures the banquette feels architectural, not ornamental.

The painted components are finished in Benjamin Moore “Swiss Coffee” at 75% strength, applied in a semi-gloss sheen. This soft, warm white provides subtle contrast against the walls while offering durability and easy maintenance in a high-use seating area. The white oak seat tops are finished with Minwax Pure White stain, allowing the natural grain of the wood to remain visible while keeping the palette light and airy.
